🎤 7 questions with Marie-Elise Worswick from Tayberry
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do: I'm Marie-Elise, a mum of one and based between Cheshire in the UK and Portals Nous on the island. I am a tutor and educational consultant, mainly working with English speaking students at international schools around Majorca, enabling them to fulfil their academic and personal potential. We work with families who are moving to our beautiful island, to help with the transition to a new school, as well as with families who have been based here for a long time and whose children are wanting to return to the UK for higher education. Instagram account worth following: Aside from our own, of course, I love looking at the PH Mallorca page as well, viewing some of the fabulous houses we have here.
Favorite place to swim: I might be biased, but Portals Nous beach (Platja de s'Oratori) is my favourite as I can walk there in under 20 minutes, but I've not attempted swimming over to the island yet!
A place worth eating at: My absolute favourite is Chameli's in the village. Relaxed dining, with delicious food. Perfect after a busy day working (or if you're on the way home from an afternoon at the beach!).
Who is making a product we should know about: I've got to say ourselves at Tayberry! We have a fairly new service we offer (digital homeschooling) which is perfect for our 'expat' families who are just moving to the island and haven't enrolled their children in school as yet.
Best month of the year in Mallorca: I love May! The sun isn't too strong, everywhere is still fairly quiet, and I love the anticipation for a long, hot summer. What is one other secret/great tip about Mallorca that you'd like to share with our readers?: Hierbas is the best kept secret off the island. I can't believe it's not made its way overseas to the UK! I love it after a meal, with ice, but on those extra hot days, in a tall glass with lemonade and lots of ice too is a winner.
