Welcome to The Mallorcan’s inaugural list of the 50 most interesting people in Mallorca. These are the people we learnt about in 2021 who are doing and making things that left us feeling inspired by their work.
DESIGN & CREATIVITY

Jaume Roig
Jaume is a local Mallorcan artist trained in ceramics using traditional techniques to create simple sculptures. Living in the south of the island surrounded by sea and stone, he is inspired for his creations.

Matias Alexandro and Ana Lui
Matias and Ana transformed Casa Mana into an eco farm house overlooking the Tramuntana mountains in 2020. They restored the 110 year old finca into a space where everyone feels at home and close to nature.

Christoffer and Josephine Du Rietz

Maria Antònia Marqués and Alvaro Garriga
Antònia and Álvaro began to devise Con Alma, their design firm, in a small bar in London. Their unique approach to merging design and nature resulted in on of their most recognised designs, the Mallorca boards.

Klas Käll and Barabara Bergman
Klas and Barbara opened Rialto Living in 2007, converting it to one of Europe’s most exciting lifestyle stores. It is now a must-visit for those passing through Palma.

Martin and Barbara Lucas-Martí
Martin & Barbara opened eco-hotel Ecocirer, housed in a restored 19th-century townhouse in Sóller. They are leading the way for sustainable and ecological tourism on the island.

Stuart Barr and James Armstrong
In 2016 Stuart and James set up Barr Baleares, a bespoke design and build service. They have put their name to some of the most exciting projects on the island.

Arturo Sanchez
Architecture and interior photographer Arturo is a native of Barcelona and grew up in Mallorca.
Demand for his work has taken him all over the world for capturing homes and building in stills or video.

Biel Huguet
Biel has given the Huguet family tile business a new artistic breath thanks to collaborating with great architects and designers. Today, their Instagram-friendly designs are in demand all over the world.

Micheal Roberts
Micheal and his wife Maria have been running Son Viscos, an agroturismo hotel since 2013. Micheal also owns Obsolete Mallorca, offering some of the best vintage and limited-series furniture on Mallorca.

Glynn Jones and Jacqueline Rozenhart
The Pink Pepper Tree is the labour of love of Jacqueline and Glynn. Housed in an authentic, lovingly restored, 16th-century country house in the island’s wine producing, agricultural heartland.

Meike Kemp and Jörg Schmitz
Interior designers Meike and Jörg take their love of the mediterranean lifestyle and create habitats for the soul. Meike maintains an interior design studio in Düsseldorf and Jörg an architecture office in Mallorca.

Rocio Graves
Rocio is a food alchemist, activist, food photographer and home gardener. She grew up in a small community of artists immersed in creative expression and this shines through in her creative pursuits today.

María Cañizares and Sergio Aymami
Maria and Sergio, owners of Rustic the Binissalem minimalist bakery, are baking breads from organic stone-ground flours to preserve the maximum of nutrients.

Grace Berrow
Grace is the chef at her family restaurant, Patiki Beach, in Port Soller. She also delivers to private clients. Her food is a way of showcasing the raw beauty of the ingredients and bringing out their innate brilliance.

Tino Wolter
Master chocolatier Tino spent thirty months perfecting recipes and sourcing the highest quality and ecologically farmed products. The result was Cachao: chocolate in its most pure and natural form.

Chloe Morgan
Chloe owns Coco’s Deli, a cafe that has locals raving. Chloe also runs the wellbeing brand, Coco Holistic. She uses her knowledge to assist others in their personal transformation and growth.

Åsa and Emilio Ingrosso
Emilio and Åsa are the owners of Italian restaurant La Perla with two locations in Santa Catalina and Portals Hills. They’re now working on a new project in “La Perla Black Label”, a smaller restaurant with higher quality.

Sofia Sagripanti
Sofia is a plant-based chef & culinary consultant. She cooks for private clients and wellness retreats, whilst also curating intimate gatherings.

María and Teresa Solivellas
Sisters Maria and Teresa own and run the popular restaurant Ca To Ne Ta, that occupies an old house in Caimari village. Creating simple, honest, fresh organic produce that is sourced as close to home as possible.

Juana Maria Verger
Juana founded her family business Es Garrover de Mallorca inspired by her grandfather Juan Martín, who discovered the magic of the carob generations ago. Their products are now widely used across the island.

Katja Wöhr and Kate John
Katja and Kate combined to make what is now Dos Alquemistas, transforming olive leaves into unique teas and powders. They began their experiments using discarded pruned branches in Valldemossa.

Founders of beach photography brand, Kiliart, Belén and Kilian travelled all over Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera finding their niche in coastal photography.

Anna Alexandra
Anna Alexandra is a visual artist, poet and culturologist born in Bulgaria and now based in Mallorca. Her background is related to ancient languages, philosophy and history of culture.

Joan Agulio
Street artist Joan’s work tries to represent the local life, character and essence of the society. His works are framed within street art, making pieces that range from small format to large-scale muralism.

Mercedes Lopez Coello
Mercedes photography has resulted in the favourite Instagram account of many Mallorca residents. Reconnecting with nature and herself has inspired much of the imagery she shares with her 40k+ followers.

Pernilla Danielsson
Photographer & Art Director Pernilla is originally from Sweden and has made Mallorca home. Shooting people and places using natural light has attracted a strong following on her Instagram account.

Lucas Moraes
Lucas was born in Brazil, and has always loved photography and illustration. It was once he moved to Spain in 2014 where his passion blossomed even more.

Michaela Wissén
Photpographer Michaela divides her time between Mallorca and Stockholm. She is known for the stunning imagery she shares on Instagram and recently collaborated with Nividas to release Palma by Michaela Wissén.

Maja Klinga
Maja is the face behind the popular Instagram account @travelplama. Her photography of the island evolved into beautiful prints that she displays at @mallorcaprints.

Kate Bellm
Deia-based British photographer Kate released a book this year, 'LA ISLA' that celebrates the natural beauty and free-spirited locals of Mallorca. She is opening a hotel in 2022 with a collective of Mallorcan creatives.
HEALTH

Luke Wills
Pioneer in the Wim Hof Method and kettlebells in Spain, Luke Wills has vast experience in personal training and his focus now has centred on breathing, overcoming and reconnecting.

Zora Van Ginkel
Zora Van Ginkel founded The Studio Lifestyle on Mallorca, bringing a boutique barre studio and live barre classes to the island.

Lauren & Georgi
Lauren and Georgi formed the Calm Collective to offer one day retreats and bespoke wellness weekends on Mallorca. Mindfulness and self-care are their focus, allowing participants to connect with mind, body and soul.

Mirjam Wagner
Mirjam is one of Mallorca’s best know yoga practitioners. With a focus on osteopathy as well as yoga teaching, Mirjam is also deeply interested in both western & eastern medicine.

Lilla and Peter
Lilla and Peter founded Our Yoga Mind with the unique concept to create mindful yoga experiences on the ground, on the water and in the air.
