The 5 Best Boutique Hotels In Menorca (2024)

Menorca, Mallorca's sister island, is often overshadowed by its other sibling, Ibiza, renowned for its dual personality—vibrant party scenes and holistic experiences. However, Menorca has much to offer with its tranquil, authentic, and charming ambiance. The island boasts an abundance of charming accommodations and is easily accessible by boat from Mallorca.

We have curated a short list of our absolute favourite boutique hotels, each possessing that unique 'it' factor and authentic charm that we strive to discover. Unlike regular hotels, boutique hotels are characterised by their smaller capacity, offering a more personalised service. Typically featuring fewer than a hundred rooms, they are considered trendier and more intimate, often due to their locations in urban areas.

Can Albertí 1740

Can Alberti is located in the heart of the historic center of Mahon, on the island of Menorca. Built by the Alberti family in 1740, this boutique hotel has recently undergone a complete refurbishment. The hotel now offers 14 rooms that seamlessly blend refined and elegant Menorcan style with the latest modern comforts.

Hotel Boutique Can Sastre

The founders of Can Sastre Boutique Hotel, Magda and Josep, represent the fourth generation of owners. The family house, dating back to the 17th century, where Leopoldo Sastre established the La Sin Nombre pastry shop in 1862, was transformed into a boutique hotel in 2018. Situated in the old town of Ciutadella, the house is steeped in tradition, creating a warm atmosphere reminiscent of a recent past.

Jardí de Ses Bruixes Collection

After a year of renovation in 2014, the house, whose history dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, transformed into Jardí de Ses Bruixes. Located in Mahón, the hotel boast 16 rooms with original architectural and ornamental elements, striking the perfect balance between history and contemporary comfort. The interior patio of orange trees at Jardí de Ses Bruixes is a divine and delicate space open to the public. It provides an enchanting setting to enjoy breakfast, brunch, a snack, or a magical dinner under the light of the chandeliers.

Meloussa Hotel Boutique

Situated next to the Market Square, one of the most captivating spots in the old town of Ciutadella, is the newly renovated Menorcan-style Boutique Hotel Meloussa. Boasting only 7 rooms, this intimate hotel exudes a sense of tranquility. Natural light and textures come together to create a peaceful atmosphere that harmoniously blends with the routines and customs of the locals, who infuse the streets with vibrant life.

Ses Sucreres

In 2009, the house that once upon a time used to be a village grocery shop transformed into a small six-room boutique hotel located on one of the oldest streets of Ferreries, a village close to everything in the middle of Menorca. In 2023, the extension of the original Ses Sucreres, Hevresac, is opening in Maó—a new contemporary architectural project set in a rural environment with a small garden and a refreshing pond. Both boutique hotels share a common ethos, characterized by a profound desire to break away from the conventional models of classic hotel accommodation, which can sometimes feel impersonal.
